NATIONAL PARK RILA

Leisurely pace and hike all the way up to the highest of the seven lakes in the largest national park in Bulgaria. The park is located about (100 km – 62 ml) south of Sofia.
In addition, the Park contains rare and endangered wildlife species and communities. Self-regulating ecosystems of biological diversity, as well as historic sites of global cultural and scientific significance. Some of the largest rivers in the Balkan Peninsula originate here.
In fact the name Rila is derived from the Thracian word roula – which means a lots of water.

In a Rila Mountain is the highest peak not only in Bulgaria but also in the Balkans. Musala peak with its 2925.4 m. – 9596ft., it is also the seventh highest among European leaders.

Malyovitsa is a peak in the northwestern part of the Rila Mountain in southwestern Bulgaria. It is (2,729 m – 8 ft above sea level) and is one of the most popular tourist regions in the mountain. Its northern and eastern slopes are steep and almost inaccessible while the southern and south-western slopes are more oblique.
The Malyovitsa (1,700 m – 5652 ft) region is the cradle of Bulgarian mountaineering. In fact the region is one of the most popular tourist regions in the Rila mountain.

Also in the natinal park Rila we are visiting Seven Rila lakes – The Seven Rila Lakes are a group of glacial lakes, situated in the northwestern Rila Mountain in Bulgaria. They are the most visited group of lakes in Bulgaria. The lakes are situated between 2081 m – 6827 ft) and (2535 m – 8316 ft) above sea level. Each lake carries a name associated with its most characteristic feature.

Rila Monastery – UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
It is one of the symbols of Bulgaria and is also a popular tourist destination. The monastery lies in the recesses of Rila Mountain. Between Rilska and Drushlyavitsa Rivers, at 1147 m above mean sea level.
As a matter of fact throughout the centuries Rila Monastery has always been the spiritual, educational and cultural centre of Bulgaria.
The monastery is  a part of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

PIRIN NATIONAL PARK

It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. 

At the Pirin mountain  is Bulgaria’s second and the Balkans’ third highest, after Musala and Mount Olympus. Vihren summit at the altitude of 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level.
It is located in the northern part of Pirin and more precisely on the main ridge between Hvoynati peak and Kutelo peak, between the rivers Vlahinska and Banderitsa.
Also it is one of the most impressive places for tourism in the Pirin Mountains.

Bezbog peak  on 2645 m – 8677 ft above sea level at the Pirin mountain is connected to lots of ancient myths and legend.
One of the legends says that the God Perun had a very beautiful daughter. The nearby god Bess decided to steal and marry to her. Her brother, Jengal found out about his plans and caught up with him right on the Bezbog peak. Where after killing him, he stoned him, saving his sister’s honor. So the grand chamber rose high to the sky and was called Besbog.

CENTRAL BALKAN NATIONAL PARK

Raysko Praskalo (Bulgarian: Райско пръскало, “Heavenly Sprinkler”), 124.5 m in height, is the highest waterfall in Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula. It is situated under Botev Peak (2,376 m) in the central section of the Balkan Mountains and is part of the Dzhendema Reserve of the Central Balkan National Park. The nearest town is Kalofer, at 11 km to the south.
The waterfall takes water from the snow drifts on Botev Peak and forms the river Praskalska which is a tributary to the Byala Reka River. 

Botev Peak is at 2,376 m – 7,795 ft above sea level, the highest peak of the Balkan Mountains. It is located close to the geographic centre of Bulgaria, and is part of the Central Balkan National Park.

Town of Plovdiv
One of the  oldest cities in an Europe, the beginning of it’s history dates back to 6,000 years B.C. In ancient times Thracians inhabited the Three Hills and built a fortified settlement – the largest city in Thrace. As a matter of fact in the 4th century BC Plovdiv was conquered by Phillip of Macedon.

Town of  Hisaria
Or the Roman city of Diocletianopolis. It is famous for its ancient Roman remains visible everywhere. Public buildings: small amphitheater, the barracks of the Roman garrison, foundations of a couple of the oldest churches in Bulgaria. As well as the best-preserved Roman city walls and hot spring in Bulgaria.

DAY 1

Sofia – Borovets Rezort – Rila monastery – Borovets Rezort

From Sofia – Our team will be waiting to greet you at the Airport or at the parking behind Alexander Nevski Cathedral, http://!!!Green Valleys meeting point SOFIA google/maps!!!, or you can arrange your pick up point in advance with member of our booking team.
From Plovdiv – Our team will be waiting to greet you at the Airport or at the parking in front of the Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv), http://!!!Green Valleys meeting point Plovdiv. google/maps!!!, or you can arrange your pick up point in advance with member of our booking team.
Check in at the hotel, free time.
Visit the Rila Monastery, where you will learn a lot about the history of Bulgaria during the Bulgarian Revival Period (18th – 19th centuries).
Transfer back to the hotel.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 2

Borovets Rezort – Musala summit – Borovets Rezort
Hiking Difficulty: Moderately (3 from 6), Elevation: 571 m ( from 2354 m – 2925 m) – 1873ft ( from 7723 ft – 9596 ft), Length: 13,70 km (8.512 mi), Duration: 6,00 hours (Hiking time only).

Today after breakfast we depart towrads Yastrebets chairlift which will lead us to the Yastrebets hut (2369 m, 7772 ft). 
Yastrebets hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop Musala hut. The trek takes about 1 hour.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Rila Mountains.
After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Ice lake (2709 m, 8887ft ). The trek takes about 1 and a half hours.

From the Ice lake we taking the last trek to the Musala Peak (2925 m, 9596ft). Trek takes approximatly 30 minutes.
After a break on the peak we will get back to the trek to the Yastrebets hut. The trek takes approx three hours.
Get back to the hotel where can enjoy on hot thermal mineral water.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 3

Borovets Rezort – Malyovitsa summit – Borovets Rezort
Hiking Difficulty: Strenuous (4 from 6), Elevation: 1006 m ( from 1723 m – 2729 m) – 3300 ft (from 5652 ft to 8953 ft), Length: 6.5 km – 4 ml, Duration: 8 hours (Hiking time only)

Today after breakfast we will continue our adventure in the area, we depart towrads the the region of Malyovitsa.
The journey takes about half an hour to the starting point for treks in the region of Malyovitsa at an altitude of (1,700 m – 5652 ft).
From there we will take  Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
Malyovitsa Hut at an altitude of (1960 m – 6430 ft above sea level), from where a panoramic view of Rila Mountain is revealed.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Hut.
Next Treck will takes about 1 hour to the Second terrace,this is rough rocky rivers, passing two plateaus. The trek takes about 1 hour.
Take the next trek to the the Malyovishki Lakes (Elenski Lakes),there are a group of three glacial lakes. The trek takes about 30 minutes.
After short break we will get back to the last trek, to the Malyovitsa peak at (2,729 m – 8 ft above sea level). Trek takes approx 30 minutes.
Trek back to Malyovitsa hut and board the coach.

Get back to the hotel where can enjoy on hot thermal mineral water.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 4
Borovets Rezort – Seven Rila Lakes – Bansko Rezort
Hiking Difficulty: Moderately  (3 from 6), Elevation: 469 m ( from 2081 m to 2550 m) – 1538 ft (6827 ft to 8316 ft), Length: 8 km – 4.971 ml, Duration: 5 hours (Hiking time only)

Today after breakfast we check out from the hotel and depart towards Panichishte resort.
From there we will take the chairlift which will lead us to the Rila Lakes mountain hut at the (2081 m – 6827 ft). Hiking trek to the “Lake Peak” (2535 m – 8316 ft) from where a panoramic view of all seven lakes is revealed. The trek takes about 2 hours.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Seven Rila Lakes.
Enjoyable afternoon at the Seven Rila Lakes Cirque.
Trek back to ‘Rila Lakes’ hut and the chairlift.
Departure towards Pirini mountain, Bankso rezort.

Check in at the hotel, free time.

DAY 5

Bansko Rezort – Bezbog Peak – Popovo lake – Bansko Rezort,
Hiking Difficulty: Moderate (3 of 6), Elevation: 409 m – 1341 ft, Length: 6 km – 4 ml, Duration: 6:00 hours (Hiking time only)

Today after breakfast we depart towrads Gotse Delchev hut (1412 m – 4632 ft above sea level).
From Gotse Delchev hut we will take the chairlift which will lead us to the Bezbog hut (2236 m – 7335 ft above sea level). 
Bezbog hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Pirin Mountains.
After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Bezbog Peak at ( 2645 m – 8677 ft above sea level). The trek takes about 1 hour.

Inspiring break on the peak  and then we will take a trek to the Popovo Lake.
Hiking back to the trek to the Bezbog hut  and the chairlift.
Get back to the hotel where can enjoy on hot thermal mineral water, optionaly wine tasting.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 6

Bansko Rezort – Vihren Summit – Bansko Rezort
Hiking Difficulty: Strenuous (4 from 6), Elevation: 964 m (from 1950 m – 2914 m) – 3162 ft (from 6397 ft – 9560 ft), Length: 6 km – 4 ml, Duration: 6:00 hours (Hiking time only)

After the breakfast we will continue our adventure in the area, we depart towrads Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level) – This is Bulgaria’s second and the Balkans third highest summit, after Musala and Mount Olympus.
Short transfer to the Vihren hut (1950 m – 6397ft above sea level)
From Vihren hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Pirin Mountains.
After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level). The trek takes about 1 hour.

Inspiring break on the peak  and then we will get back to the trek to the Vihren hut and the boarding the coach.
Get back to the hotel where can enjoy on hot thermal mineral water, optionaly wine tasting.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 7

Bansko Rezort – town of Plovdiv (One of the  oldest cities in an Europe, the beginning of it’s history dates back to 6,000 years B.C)

Lunch in a traditional country restaurant while enjoying deliciously prepared food and lovely atmosphere.
Discover Plovdiv one of the oldest towns in Europe and the second largest city of Bulgaria – sightseeing tour.

– Archaeological and historical complex of Old town of Plovdiv.
– Ancient theatre.

DAY 8

Town of Plovdiv – Panitscite area – Paradise hut
Hiking Difficulty: Moderate (3 from 6), Elevation: 704 m – 2309 ft, Length: 10 km – 6.213 ml, Duration: 8 hours (Hiking time only)

After breakfast we check out and  depart towrads town of Kalofer, the region Paniscite.
∗ Short transfer to the region Paniscite town of Kalofer. From there we will take hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 02:00 hour.
∗ Short break at the Djendema Reserve with amasing view of the mountain.
∗ Hiking trek to the Paradise Hut at (1430 m – 4691 ft above sea level) from where a panoramic view of Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”) is revealed. Trek takes about 02:45 hours.

∗ A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”).
∗ After a break we will take hiking treck for abour 30 minutes to the Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”).

∗ Get back to the Paradise Hut.
∗ Dinner in the Hut and get ready for the next day.

DAY 9

Panitscite area – Paradise hut – Botev summit – Panitscite area – Spa and Wine hotel Starosel
Hiking Difficulty: Challenging (5 of 6), Elevation: 1651 m (from 725 m – 2376 m) – 5416 ft (from 2378 ft – 7795 ft), Length: 14 km – 8.5 ml, Duration: 10:00 hours (Hiking time only)

Today after breakfast we will continue our adventure in the Balkan mountain.
Hiking trek to the Tarzan’s path. Takes about 01:30 hours.
After a break we will get to the last trek, to the Botev Peak is at 2,376 m – 7,795 ft above sea level. Trek takes about 01:30 hours.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Botev Peak.
Trek back to the region Paniscite, town of Kalofer. Trek takes about 07:00 hours.

Enjoyable afternoon in the town of Hisarya, a small resort town. The town is famous for its ancient Roman remains visible everywhere – public buildings, a small amphitheater, the barracks of the Roman garrison, the foundations of a couple of the oldest churches in Bulgaria, as well as the best-preserved Roman city walls in Bulgaria and one of the most interesting and well preserved roman tombs in the country.
∗ Get back to the hotel.
∗ Tasting the finest wine prepared according to an old Thracian recipe.

DAY 11

Spa and Wine hotel Starosel – Sofia city

Today after breakfast we depart towrads town of Sofia.
Visit St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It is a Bulgarian Orthodox structured cathedral in Sofia. Our professional storytelling guide has so much to share with you.
Next stop is Rotunda Saint George. Built by the Romans in the 4th century, when Sofia was the residence of the emperors Galerius and Constantine the Great.
Discover Complex Ancient Serdica – The Archaeological complex Serdica presents the remains of the Roman City.
Lunch and relax in a traditional restaurant while enjoying deliciously prepared food and lovely atmosphere.
Unravel National Institute of Archaeology – Has present artifacts indicating the first trace of human activity (from1.6 million years to 1600BC) as well as the finds from the earliest copper and gold metallurgy – Learn about the rich heritage of culture in the Balkan peninsula.

ATTENTION:
Mandatory requirement for tourists – Before the start of each mountain hike, clients receive instruction from a licensed mountain guide and undertake to comply with the instructions given to them.
Changes in the program are possible, based on objective factors, mostly of meteorological nature.

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT:
Please wear comfortable hiking boots, warm clothes, dry food, water, raincoate.
Windproof and waterproof jacket.
Extra garment (fleece).
Water bottle at least 1 liter.
Hat/towel, sunscreen and sunglasses, raincoat.
Insole (optional).
In bad weather conditions the program can be shortened or replaced.

RECOMMENDED INFORMATION:
Food for lunch, picnic type. It is recommended to consider in advance that our food is as energetic and healthy as possible.
Travelers should have a moderate to good level of physical fitness.

Bansko Rezort – Vihren Summit – Bansko Rezort
Hiking Difficulty: Strenuous (4 from 6), Elevation: 964 m (from 1950 m – 2914 m) – 3162 ft (from 6397 ft – 9560 ft), Length: 6 km – 4 ml, Duration: 6:00 hours (Hiking time only)

After the breakfast we will continue our adventure in the area, we depart towrads Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level) – This is Bulgaria’s second and the Balkans third highest summit, after Musala and Mount Olympus.
Short transfer to the Vihren hut (1950 m – 6397ft above sea level)
From Vihren hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Pirin Mountains.
After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level). The trek takes about 1 hour.

Inspiring break on the peak  and then we will get back to the trek to the Vihren hut and the boarding the coach.
Get back to the hotel where can enjoy on hot thermal mineral water, optionaly wine tasting.
Dinner in the Hotel, relax at the charming atmosphere and get ready for the next day.

DAY 7

Bansko Rezort – town of Plovdiv (One of the  oldest cities in an Europe, the beginning of it’s history dates back to 6,000 years B.C)

Today after breakfast we depart towrads town of Plovdiv. In ancient times Thracians inhabited the Three Hills and built a fortified settlement – the largest city in Thrace. In the 4th century BC Plovdiv was conquered by Phillip of Macedon.
Check in at the hotel, free time.
Lunch in a traditional country restaurant while enjoying deliciously prepared food and lovely atmosphere.
Discover Plovdiv one of the oldest towns in Europe and the second largest city of Bulgaria – sightseeing tour.
– Ancient Forum and the Odeon.
– Ancient Roman Stadium.
– Archaeological and historical complex of Old town of Plovdiv.
– Ancient theatre.
– Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum.
– Archaeological complex on the Nebet Tepe (one of the hills of Plovdiv) The earliest settlements on Nebet Tepe are dated back to 4000 BC

DAY 8

Town of Plovdiv – Panitscite area – Paradise hut
Hiking Difficulty: Moderate (3 from 6), Elevation: 704 m – 2309 ft, Length: 10 km – 6.213 ml, Duration: 8 hours (Hiking time only)

After breakfast we check out and  depart towrads town of Kalofer, the region Paniscite.
∗ Short transfer to the region Paniscite town of Kalofer. From there we will take hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 02:00 hour.
∗ Short break at the Djendema Reserve with amasing view of the mountain.
∗ Hiking trek to the Paradise Hut at (1430 m – 4691 ft above sea level) from where a panoramic view of Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”) is revealed. Trek takes about 02:45 hours.

∗ A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”).
∗ After a break we will take hiking treck for abour 30 minutes to the Raysko Praskalo (“Heavenly Sprinkler”).

∗ Get back to the Paradise Hut.
∗ Dinner in the Hut and get ready for the next day.

DAY 9

Panitscite area – Paradise hut – Botev summit – Panitscite area – Spa and Wine hotel Starosel
Hiking Difficulty: Challenging (5 of 6), Elevation: 1651 m (from 725 m – 2376 m) – 5416 ft (from 2378 ft – 7795 ft), Length: 14 km – 8.5 ml, Duration: 10:00 hours (Hiking time only)

Today after breakfast we will continue our adventure in the Balkan mountain.
Hiking trek to the Tarzan’s path. Takes about 01:30 hours.
After a break we will get to the last trek, to the Botev Peak is at 2,376 m – 7,795 ft above sea level. Trek takes about 01:30 hours.
A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the Botev Peak.
Trek back to the region Paniscite, town of Kalofer. Trek takes about 07:00 hours.

Departure towards Spa and Wine hotel Strosel, one of the pearls in the crown of Bulgaria’s Spa tourism.
Check in at the hotel, Wine tasting – The fines wine made by Thracian’s recipe.

DAY 10

Spa and Wine hotel Starosel – Thracian cult center near Starosel – town of Hisaria

∗ Today after breakfast free time to enjoy the spa and wellness facilities at the hotel.
∗ Optionaly visit the Thracian cult center near the hotel.
∗ Short transfer to the town of Hisaria – The town is famous for its ancient Roman remains.
Enjoyable afternoon in the town of Hisarya, a small resort town. The town is famous for its ancient Roman remains visible everywhere – public buildings, a small amphitheater, the barracks of the Roman garrison, the foundations of a couple of the oldest churches in Bulgaria, as well as the best-preserved Roman city walls in Bulgaria and one of the most interesting and well preserved roman tombs in the country.
∗ Get back to the hotel.
∗ Tasting the finest wine prepared according to an old Thracian recipe.

DAY 11

Spa and Wine hotel Starosel – Sofia city

Today after breakfast we depart towrads town of Sofia.
Visit St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It is a Bulgarian Orthodox structured cathedral in Sofia. Our professional storytelling guide has so much to share with you.
Next stop is Rotunda Saint George. Built by the Romans in the 4th century, when Sofia was the residence of the emperors Galerius and Constantine the Great.
Discover Complex Ancient Serdica – The Archaeological complex Serdica presents the remains of the Roman City.
Lunch and relax in a traditional restaurant while enjoying deliciously prepared food and lovely atmosphere.
Unravel National Institute of Archaeology – Has present artifacts indicating the first trace of human activity (from1.6 million years to 1600BC) as well as the finds from the earliest copper and gold metallurgy – Learn about the rich heritage of culture in the Balkan peninsula.
Check in at the hotel, free time.

DAY 12

Please wear comfortable hiking boots, warm clothes, dry food, water, raincoate.
Windproof and waterproof jacket.
Extra garment (fleece).
Water bottle at least 1 liter.

In bad weather conditions the program can be shortened or replaced.
