FLORENCE

SIENA

MONTEPULCIANO

In the heart of food and wine Tuscany rises Montepulciano, on a hill 605 meters above the sea level, among olive groves and Sangiovese vineyards. In the Middle Ages, thanks to its strategic position at the crossroads of two roads of great regional importance, this hilltop town between Val d’Orcia and Valdichiana gained autonomy and wealth, becoming the scene of conflicts and disputed land between the Florentines and the Sienese in spite of itself.

In 1511 Montepulciano became part of the Florentine State, which formalized its importance, developing and expanding the urban plan with the construction of the imposing mansions that still make the historic center so fascinating today.
