This jurney will take you to the the most wounderful lakes in a Rila Mountain – National Park Rila
The circus of the Yonchevo lake and Scary Lake in the Malyovitsa regionis is strikingly impressive, and seldom will one fail to open one’s mouth to the huge ridges above it.
The Malyovitsa region is the cradle of Bulgarian mountaineering. In fact the region is one of the most popular tourist regions in the Rila mountain. Its northern and eastern slopes are steep and almost inaccessible while the southern and south-western slopes are more oblique. Malyovitsa Ski Centre — with two downhill tracks and two ski drags — is to the north.
Highlights:

∗ The journey takes about hour and a half to the starting point for treks in the region of Malyovitsa Hut at an altitude of (1,700 m – 5652 ft). From there we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
∗ Yonchevo Lake at an altitude of 1960 m - 6430 ft , from where a panoramic view of Rila Mountain is revealed.
∗ A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the lake.
∗ After a break we will get to the last trek, to the Scarey lake at 2391 m - 7844 ft above sea level. Trek takes about 01:30 hours.
∗ Inspiring break at the impresive area of the Scarey lake and then get bak to the Malyovitsa hut and board the coach. Trek takes about 03:00 hours.
∗ Departure back to Plovdiv.
ATTENTION:
∗ Mandatory requirement for tourists – Before the start of each mountain hike, clients receive instruction from a licensed mountain guide and undertake to comply with the instructions given to them.
∗ Changes in the program are possible, based on objective factors, mostly of meteorological nature.
PERSONAL EQUIPMENT:
∗ Please wear comfortable hiking boots, warm clothes, dry food, water, raincoate.
∗ Windproof and waterproof jacket.
∗ Extra garment (fleece).
∗ Water bottle at least 1 liter.
∗ Hat/towel, sunscreen and sunglasses, raincoat.
∗ Insole (optional).
∗ In bad weather conditions the program can be shortened or replaced.

∗ 07:30: Tour starts from the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) you will be picked up from the place, if arranged with member of our booking team in advance. Departure for approximately 2:30-hours travel through beautiful countryside to the region of Malyovitsa Hut at an altitude of (1,700 m – 5652 ft).
∗ 10:00 – 11:30: Starting point for treks in the region of Malyovitsa Hut at an altitude of (1,700 m – 5652 ft). From there we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 01:30 hours.
∗11:30 – 12:30: Yonchevo Lake at an altitude of 1960 m – 6430 ft, from where a panoramic view of Rila Mountain is revealed.
∗ 12:30 – 13:30: A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the lake.
∗ 13:30 – 15:00: After a break we will get to the last trek, to the Scarey lake at 2391 m – 7844 ft above sea level. Trek takes about 01:30 hours.
∗ 15:00 – 15:30: Inspiring break at the impresive area of the Scarey lake and then get bak to the Malyovitsa hut and board the coach. Trek takes about 03:00 hours.
∗ 17:30: Boarding the coach and depart back to town of Sofia.
∗ 19:00: Expected time of arrival in Plovdiv at the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) or at your preferable location if requested in advance at the time of booking.

Rila National Park is the largest national park in Bulgaria. The Park contains rare and endangered wildlife species and communities, self-regulating ecosystems of biological diversity, as well as historic sites of global cultural and scientific significance. Some of the largest rivers in the Balkan Peninsula originate here.
The names of Yonchevo and the Scary Lake contact the artist Hristo Yonchev – Kriskarets. He loved hiking in the mountain and was known for his Rila landscapes pictures. Once he was on the Scary Lake, a terrible storm caught up with him and he ran down. Along the way, he met other tourists and screaming “It’s scary up there, the lake is scary.” Then they named the upper lake “the Scary” and the lower lake named after the artist – “Yonchevo”.
There are 120 glacial lakes, including the prominent Seven Rila Lakes. The name Rila is derived from the Thracian word roula, meaning lots of water.
