Parts of 6 rooms, on an area of about 1000 sq.m., were revealed. The estimated area of the building is about 3000 sq.m. The large rectangular rooms are connected to each other by entrances formed by granite thresholds with traces of double doors. The building technique is mixed masonry “opus mixtum”.

The combination of various architectural solutions and construction techniques make the Roman baths one of the most interesting monuments of the Roman era in the Bulgarian lands and an indisputable symbol of the city of Kyustendil. Finds of ceramics, hairpins, fragments of votive tiles, as well as the collective find of 61 silver coins from the emperors Antonius Pius (138-161) and Gordian II (238) were found in the Roman baths, which undoubtedly date the building from II – III century.

Hisarluk fortress is located on the highest flat part of the hill of the same name, rising 2 km southeast of Kyustendil. Built at the end of the 4th-beginning of the 5th century. Repaired in the 6th century, it survived the First and Second Bulgarian States.

The archaeological excavations carried out record different construction periods of the fortress and speak of the continuous and continuous use of the fortress during antiquity and the Middle Ages. The interesting constructive solutions, the combination of different construction techniques and materials, as well as the discovered archaeological monuments from several historical eras define the fortress on the Hisarlka hill as one of the most significant on the territory of Bulgaria. The fortress is an architectural and construction monument of culture with the category “national meaning”.
