PARIS
Paris is the largest city in France: practically one in five French people live here. To cut it in half, the Seine, which on the Left Bank retains its historic core, with the Île de la Cité. There are 37 bridges to go from one bank to the other.Tour Eiffel. It is the emblem of France, initially built on a temporary basis on the Champ-de-Mars on the occasion of the Universal Exposition of 1889, it was saved from dismantling thanks to its usefulness.
It was in fact a meteorological station and then a platform for radio antennas.300 meters high (plus 24 for the television antenna), it weighs 10 thousand tons and is built of forged iron. Divided into three levels (accessible by stairs and elevators), it offers a spectacular view and the Jules Verne restaurant of excellence.Sainte-Chapelle. A masterpiece of French Gothic, it is located in the western part of the Île de la Cité. Built in 1248 by Louis IX as a chapel in the Royal Palace to house important relics, the Sainte-Chapelle retains a spiral staircase leading to the upper chapel.Arc de Triomphe. It is here, since 1975, that the Tour de France ends, but its significance is linked to French military power and still today is the starting point of the parade held every year on July 14, a national holiday that commemorates the taking of the Bastille.
It stands in the center of place de l’Étoile (or place Charles de Gaulle), the largest Parisian road junction, where 12 avenues converge.Place Vendôme, defined as the most elegant square in Europe, is one of the most beautiful and famous squares in Paris. Designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, it is an example of classic French architecture of sober elegance, far from the excesses typical of the time.
LONDON
London has a lot to offer to those who visit it: history, art, culture, entertainment at all levels and for all budgets. It is the shopping capital, a reference point in the world of music and cinema, a lively and dynamic city in constant motion, so much so that even those who have already been there always find something new to do and see. In addition it has a characteristic charm linked to the traditions and stories of the monarchy that make it special and unique in the world.
Let’s say that there is so much to see that the problem is the embarrassment of choice, especially the first few times. In the tour itinerary in London I would certainly include one or more museums, depending on the time available and personal interests. Moreover, unlike most other large cities in London all the main museums are free, even and above all the most famous ones (such as the British Museum for example).London is a city full of green spaces with attractions and curiosities, and in particular I point out: the Kew Gardens, a Unesco World Heritage Site, or Hyde Park with its Speaker’s Corner where anyone can speak in public, or even the Sky Garden inside a skyscraper. Complete guide to London parks and gardens.
For a special evening and if you have the time, it is worth choosing among the many possibilities offered by the London theater scene, perhaps one of the famous musicals (recommended even if you do not know English well), or a Shakespeare classic in the Globe, the reconstructed theater in which his company performed.Among the more classic destinations there are also ones suitable for children and teenagers, for example the London Eye. Depending on the age, however, I recommend a stop at the giant Hamleys toy store, the Sea Life aquarium or the Harry Potter-themed Warner Bros Studios. Guide to attractions for the youngest.
