Tour Details
Limnos is a large fish-shaped island and is one of the most beautiful islands in the northern Aegean, very often called the island of the Gods, known as the chosen place of the god Hevest (Blacksmith of the Gods). It is a more unconventional destination that offers both amazing natural views and recreational opportunities.
The island is known for its golden sandy beaches, traditional villages, salt lakes, caves, nature reserves, impressive rock formations and sand dunes (Europe’s largest desert).

The salt lakes
An interesting sight are the salt lakes from which salt is extracted. These lakes are also home to many birds, including flamingos. The island is suitable for their observation.
Another remarkable feature of Limnos is its thermae – healing springs. Unfortunately, they have not been working for several years, but there are still springs with healing mud on the island.
Culinary specialties
As for food, the most famous specialties are Kalataki cheese ripened in baskets, thyme honey and wine.
The churches
Limnos has numerous churches and the local population is highly religious. I was fascinated by the Greeks’ faith in St. Fanourios (Άγιος Φανουριος / Agios Fanourios), famous for finding lost things or showing the way.
