Vihren summit is the highest peak of the Pirin Mountains. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage – Pirin National Park.
The altitude is 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level. In fact this is Bulgaria’s second and the Balkans’ third highest, after Musala and Mount Olympus.
It is located in the northern part of Pirin and more precisely on the main ridge between Hvoynati peak and Kutelo peak, between the rivers Vlahinska and Banderitsa.
Also it is one of the most impressive places for tourism in the Pirin Mountains.

∗ The journey takes about two and the half hours to Vihren hut at (1950 m – 6397ft above sea level).
∗ From Vihren hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
∗ A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Pirin Mountains.
∗ After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level). The trek takes about 1 hour.
∗ Inspiring break on the peak and then we will get back to the trek to the Vihren hut and the boarding the coach.
∗ Departure back to Plovdiv.
ATTENTION:
∗ Mandatory requirement for tourists – Before the start of each mountain hike, clients receive instruction from a licensed mountain guide and undertake to comply with the instructions given to them.
∗ Changes in the program are possible, based on objective factors, mostly of meteorological nature.
PERSONAL EQUIPMENT:
∗ Please wear comfortable hiking boots, warm clothes, dry food, water, raincoate.
∗ Windproof and waterproof jacket.
∗ Extra garment (fleece).
∗ Water bottle at least 1 liter.
∗ Hat/towel, sunscreen and sunglasses, raincoat.
∗ Insole (optional).
∗ In bad weather conditions the program can be shortened or replaced.
RECOMMENDED INFORMATION:
∗ Food for lunch, picnic type. It is recommended to consider in advance that your food is as energetic and healthy as possible.
∗ Travelers should have a moderate to good level of physical fitness.

Day Tour
∗ 06:00: Tour starts from the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) you will be picked up from the place, if arranged with member of our booking team in advance. Departure for approximately 3:30-hours travel through beautiful countryside to Vihren hut at (1950 m – 6397ft above sea level) in Pirin mountain.
∗ 09:30 – 10:30: From Vihren hut we will take Hiking trek to the next stop. The trek takes about 1 hour.
∗ 11:30 – 12:30: A pleasant picnic amidst the captivating tranquility in the area of the beautiful Pirin Mountains.
∗ 12:30 – 14:00: After a lunch break we will continue hiking to the Vihren summit ( 2,914 m – 9,560 ft above sea level). The trek takes about 1 hour.
∗ 14:00 – 17:00: Inspiring break on the peak and then we will get back to the trek to the Vihren hut and the boarding the coach.
∗ 17:00: Departure back to Plovdiv.
∗ 20:30: Expected time of arrival in Plovdiv at the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) or at your preferable location if requested in advance at the time of booking.

Although due to the karst topography Vihren is deprived of lakes and streams. Number of Pirin’s lakes are located around the peak. It is Europe’s southernmost glacial mass.
The flora of Vihren’s slopes consists of herbaceous plants and lichens. Vihren is home to a number of habitats, including alpine and sub-alpine open calcareous grasslands.
