The village of Bozhentsi is one of the most beautiful architectural reserves in Bulgaria. It is located 15 kilometers east of Gabrovo and impresses with its well-preserved houses and public buildings. From the time of the Bulgarian Revival.
The village of Bozhentsi was proclaimed an architectural and historical reserve in 1964 and is part of UNESCO’s cultural monuments.

 Architectural and Ethnographic Complex Etar is an open air museum, established in 1964. Its purpose is to present the architecture and the style of life in Gabrovo and the region during the second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century.
Also the complex is one of the top attractions for a day tour. In fact the museum contains only collection in Bulgaria of technical installations, driven by water a total of 50 sites – houses with craft workshops, water installations and other buildings.

Tour Itinerary

09:00: Tour starts from the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) you will be picked up from the place, if arranged with member of our booking team in advance. The trip to the Architectural and Ethnographic Complex Etar lasts about two and a half hours through picturesque Bulgarian nature, towns and small villages.
11:30 – 12:30: Visit to the Architectural and Ethnographic Complex Etar. You will discover the only collection in Bulgaria of technical installations driven by water – filling mills, water mills, grindstones, etc., which is situated there. 16 houses can be seen on the crafts bazaar (the central commercial street) in the Etar, which are exact copies of buildings existing in the past in Gabrovo and the region. On the crafts street, the visitors can watch in real-time the work of the craftsmen. Multiple crafts are presented there – bell-making (manufacturing of wrought bells for animals), pottery-making, sugar-making (manufacturing of sugar articles), furriery, manufacturing of copper vessels, etc.
12:30 – 13:00: Departure to the Historical and Architectural Reserve “Bozhentsi”near the town of Gabrovo.
13:00 – 14:00: Lunch and relax in a traditional country restaurant while enjoying deliciously prepared food, fine wine and lovely atmosphere.
14:30 – 16:30: An enjoyable afternoon in the village of Bozhentsi , the village was proclaimed an architectural and historical reserve in 1964 and is part of UNESCO’s cultural monuments. The National Revival architecture has been preserved in the village and due to this, it is forbidden any construction of buildings that do not fit to the village’s style.
17:00: Departure back to Sofia.
19:00: Tour starts from the parking in front of Hotel Ramada (Trimoncium Hotel Plovdiv) you will be picked up from the place, if arranged with member of our booking team in advance.

Reserve Bozhentsi
The village of Bozhentsi is  UNESCO protected World Heritage Site since 1964 was proclaimed an architectural and historical reserve.The National Revival architecture has been preserved in Bozhentsi due to this, and there is a ban on the construction of any buildings that do not fit with the village’s style.
The noble’s sons engaged in trade and the village gradually grew to become an important trade junction during the National Revival towards the middle of the 18th century. The main production consisted of leather, wool, beeswax and honey.
Various thematic stores ,coffee shops and restaurant ,well-preserved Bulgarian National Revival architecture style and history, and is thus a well-known tourist destination in the area.
