This multi-tour will take you on a journey into the heart of the Bulgarian rose valley- the valley of the Thracian kings and the Rhodope Mountains.

You will learn about the creativity of Zahary Zograf (1810-1853), a famous Bulgarian painter of the Bulgarian National Revival, noted for his church mural paintings and icons and often regarded as the founder of secular art in Bulgaria due to the introduction of everyday life elements in his work.

Departure to the architectural monument of Perperikon, located in the Eastern Rhodope and 15 km northeast of the present-day town of Kardzhali. Recent archaeological research clearly shows that the temple of Dionysius, the Sun God, was located right in the region of Perperikon.

Discover the antiquity fortress and Sanctuary at Perperikon. The medieval archeological complex Perperikon is one of the most ancient monumental megalithic structures, completely carved into the rocks. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria.  According to legends, two very significant prophecies were made from the altar of this temple. The first foretells the great glory of Alexander the Great and his exploits, and the second, which was done several centuries later, predetermines the power and authority of the first Roman emperor – Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus. Recent archaeological research clearly shows that the temple of Dionysius was located right in the area of Perperikon.

Visit to the Alexandrovo tomb and the Museum Center “Thracian Art of Eastern Rhodope”. The tomb in the vicinity of the village of Aleksandrovo dates back to the IV century BC, and is one of the most prominent monuments of the ancient Thracian culture. Visitors of the Museum Center can see the most remarkable archaeological sites in the Eastern Rhodope, Sakar Mountain and along the valley of the Maritsa River. The Museum Center exhibits a gold treasure, dated around 4500-4000 B.C. Jewelry and ornaments similar to the pieces found in the Varna necropolis are the oldest processed gold in the world.
Visit to the ‘Gluhite kamani’ area (the Deaf stones area). The area is one of the largest rock- cult complexes in the Eastern Rhodope. The sacred place was used by the ancient Thracian tribes who inhabited the area. The area was called Gluhite Kamani (The Deaf Stones) because there was no echo here.

Visit to the village of Mezek, famous for the well-preserved medieval Mezek Fortress and its two Thracian tombs, the Mezek and Sheynovets tombs. The Mezek Thracian tomb dates to the 4th century BC.

Visit to the tomb of Seuthes III. Seuthes III was the King of the Odrysian Kingdom of Thrace from c.331 to c.300BC and founder of the nearby Thracian city of Seuthopolis.

Enjoyable afternoon at the Architectural and Ethnographic town of Koprivshtitsa. Koprivshtitsa is one of the most characteristic Bulgarian towns, still preserving the atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival period of the 19th century. The town boasts many architectural monuments from the period, 383 in all, most of which have been restored to their original appearance. Collections of ethnographical treasures, old weapons, National Revival works of art, fine fretwork, household weaves and embroidery, national costumes and typical Bulgarian jewelry have also been preserved. It was here that the first shot of the April Uprising against the Ottoman domination was fired in 1876.
