Explore the antiquity temple and Sanctuary at Perperikon. According to the legends,  two crucial prophecies were made from the altar of this temple. The first one predicted great conquest and glory for Alexander the Great. The second, made a several centuries later, predetermined the power and strength for the first Roman Emperor – Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus. The town was probably a royal residence for the Thracian tribe Bessie.

Rhodope Mountains
The Rhodope Mountains have rich cultural heritage, including ancient Thracian sites such as the Thracian city of Perperikon, Tatul village, medieval castles, churches, monasteries and picturesque villages with traditional Bulgarian architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Magura cave
You will discover paintings drawn with fossilized bat’s guano and over a large period of time(between the Epipaleolithic and Early Iron Ages-8,000-600B.C).
The subjects of the images includes hunting,mythological,ceremonial and fatalistic scenes arranged in frieze compositions.

The Orpheus Peak is (2188 m – 7178 ft) above sea level. It is the second highest in the Rhodopes. In fact the summit Orpheus is extremely panoramic and can be reached relatively quickly and easily from The village of Gela.

The village of Gela is located at the foot of the most majestic peaks in the Rhodopes. Golyam Perelik peak, Orpheus peak and Turlata peak. Also this small village with a population of 98 inhabitants has gathered centuries of history and beautiful legends. The legend said that the village of Gela to be the birthplace of Orpheus.
